DIY Wood Slice Ornaments
It's the most wonderful time of the year! Decorating the Christmas tree is one of my favorite holiday traditions. This year I'm going for an elegant farmhouse look and I'm using wood slice ornaments. They look gorgeous and are super easy to make.
You can get blank wood slices in craft stores, on Etsy, or on Amazon. I prefer the ones with pre-drilled holes. You also need some paint, permanent adhesive vinyl, transfer tape, and your cutting machine.
If you are a fellow perfectionist you might want to put painters tape on the edge of your wood slice to create a border (a quarter inch or less). If you are a wild spirit you can freehand it. You can use chalk paint or acrylic paint. I used regular black acrylic paint.
Let the paint dry. You can cut your design in the meantime. Here is a little trick. Open the design in your cutting machine software. Create a circle that has the same size as your ornament and put it behind the design. Now you can resize the design until it fits on the circle perfectly. When you are done you can delete the circle and cut the design. I recommend using matte permanent adhesive vinyl.
Use transfer tape to put the design on the ornament. You can seal it with Mod Podge. Add some twine, a pretty ribbon or other decorations and you are done!
